  1. Honey and Clover has been my lunchtime anime for the past couple of weeks. I’m trying to like it, but it’s hard; josei/shoujo just isn’t for me, I’m afraid. Although there’s been nothing objectionable so far, I doubt that most kids would get much out of it. It’s mostly art students talking and angsting, interspersed with comic bits.

  2. Honey & Clover is not really a kids anime, its a drama with some romance and humor. (Marketing-wise, it was aimed at young professional women.) It’s a really well done soap opera, or maybe something comparable to Gray’s Anatomy.

  3. Agree with Don and Kayle. It’s not objectionable in any way, but it’s not something that would appeal to kids. (For the most part; there are some fun scenes that kids would enjoy, but lots of slower parts.)

BUT IT’S ONLY THE SECOND BEST SERIES OF 2005!!!! DAMN KAMICHU HATERS!!!

  4. The glowing reviews are thoroughly justified.

It is, however, not aimed at kids. They may still enjoy it, but it really isn’t aimed at that demographic.

Think of it as Azumanga Daioh for college, and not high school, and you’ll not be far wrong: they’re both superlative slice-of-life shows. The time of life examined is different, and so the content is too.
